The Central African Republic (CAR) has made a clarification in regard to a previous news that Bitcoin has been adopted as an official reference currency in CAR and not as a legal tender.

Quoting from Bitcoin.com, a report from Times of India said that the office of the Presidency of the Central African Republic (CAR) has confirmed that according to a bill passed by the National Assembly, the government is ready to adopt Bitcoin as a reference currency and govern Cryptocurrencies.

It is worthy to note that CAR is in no mood to follow El Salvador yet.

The currency used as the reference is popularly known as the “counter currency” and “quote currency” also. The “Base currency” also called as the “transaction currency” is the currency that is quoted.

Obed Namsio, the chief of staff, said on Facebook, “President Faustin Archange Touadera’s government will support all necessary efforts that allow the country to carry out this approach that places the Central Africa Republic on the map of the most courageous and visionary countries in the world.”
Appreciating the decision, Namsio said: “We are going on a new path that will mark a new milestone for our country while being aware of the difficulties we will have to face to continue our mission.”
